We’re constantly researching the competition ourselves to make sure we’re offering competitive pricing and programming of real integrity and distinction.

With no exceptions are we aware of competition offering the caliber of meals, hotels, destinations, excursions and experiences that we provide. In fact most tour operators take customers to dozens of other countries in the same year to re-attract their existing customer base, rather than focus exclusively on one locale. Most know very little about Iceland itself and build programs around their own expediency- tapping into the existing tourism circuit- rather than creating their own dynamic itineraries based on their own impassioned expertise.

In looking at the competitive landscape we’ve found operators promising puffins in seasons when you wont see a single one! Others suggest 10 hours in a bus bypassing entire regions of wonder, just to make up time and limit their overhead. Most emphasize the ordinary simply because its easier than taking you to the really good stuff, highlighting over-touristed places that we’d be embarrassed to waste your time on (even Iceland has tourist shops filled with plastic Viking things made in China).

They drop customers into mediocre, commercial hotels near bus stations and far from where everything’s going on. The meals they boast are essentially cafeteria-style operations behind the kitchen door. They sub-contract clichéd tourist-circuit excursions that are more akin to factory-processing than genuine adventure and exploration.

 Conversely, every aspect of Icepedition’s offerings are hand-picked after a decade of trying them out personally. We truly believe everything we call out in our itinerary is exceptional, or we don’t bother mentioning it. We often struggle, making decisions about what wonderful things are more important than other wonderful things. Our expertise is based on heart-felt passion, plain and simple.
